Description
Converted farmhouse for sale, La Montagne, Haute-Saone
La Montagne is a small, friendly village with about 40 permanent residents and a few holiday homes, located at an altitude of 650 meters, close to the Vosges Mountains and the Plateau des Mille Etangs.
La Montagne is located in the Park Naturel Regional des Ballons des Vosges, about 30 minutes from Remiremont (Tgv, hospital, commercial center), about 20 minutes from Le Val-d'Ajol (shopping, cafes, services) and about 15 minutes from Faucogney (local producers' market, community cafe, pub, post- and tourist office, France Services, primary and middle schools).
The house is in a quiet, rural area overlooking the valley and is accessed by a paved road. The original farmhouse dates from 1722.
Fifteen years ago, we, Duke and Miek, bought this farmhouse with its magnificent view. We were able to move in immediately and started converting the former stable into a B&B. Over the years of running this business we welcomed guests from around the world and got to know some fantastic people. Some former clients are now good friends, some have since then bought homes in the area, and some still stop by for a night when they are in the area. When Duke became ill, we closed the B&B. He passed away in 2025, and it's time for me to move on (not far away).
The original living area consists of a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom. The former stable, converted into a B&B, has three bedrooms (with beds up to nine people), a kitchen, bathroom, living room and chill-out area. In 2021, we added a 40m2 extension on the garden side with a shower and a living room, with many windows and French doors, allowing us to enjoy the view even more.
In the garde, which is large south-facing, you'll find a platform where you can enjoy the peace and quiet and the amazing view. There is als a garden-shed, a caravan, fruit trees, and an organic vegetable garden. There is additional hardstanding for three to four cars.
The house is heated with wood stoves. We buy the wood from a neighbour who delivers is cut to size. The house is partially insulated.
The water comes from private well, which we installed in 2012 and provides ample water all year around. We also had a septic tank installed in 2012, which meets current standards.
